Sure, actor Huang Xiaoming hard-launched his relationship in the now routine “official announcements” (官宣) posts that celebrities and non-celebrities publish alike. Make-out scenes of romance dramas are made into digestible snippets for maximum exposure and hype without regard for plot cohesion. New reality programs, magazine covers, series teasers, and brand advertisements are filling the hot searches, business as usual. The machine chugs on.
But why does it still feel like nothing is going on? That nothing is worth commenting on because it will, inevitably, die down into silence and anonymity?
